Description

The ref file ".git/tags/refs/remotes/upstream/HEAD" could not be read in full

Steps to Reproduce the Problem

1. Clone https://github.com/Beneficial-AI-Foundation/vericoding
2. Run jj git init --colocate

• Version: latest build from main

Can you test with fresh clone? It seems odd that refs/remotes/upstream/HEAD exists under .git/tags directory.

Do you have any git hook/extension that creates .git/tags/... file? I don't remember the Git data structure, but I guess .git/tags would be a legacy directory where tag refs could be stored.
