When selecting Prefer English Names in Configure Map,
maps are still in local language/alphabet.

To reproduce:
Download map of Iran, view it and see that everything is written in Farsi.

To be able to see English names on the map, it is required to have "name:en" tag in OpenStreetMap data for specific objects... Big cities (see Tehran https://www.openstreetmap.org/relation/6663864 ) usually have this tag...

I am from the middle east and the issue that @magdesign has raised is relevant to me too.

@magdesign your appearance on the postmarketOS Podcast was exciting and inspiring!

I follow your SXMO Userscript repository and page User:magdesign on a weekly basis, and I suppose there are more who do.

see screenshot:
on the map everything is written in cyrillic, but when i long press on the village name, it is also written in english in the destination selection... so it should be possible to force latin names
