(unfortunately, searching for search in github's issue tracker basically returns everything, so searching wasn't very feasible...)
Is your enhancement request related to a problem? Please describe.
On smaller-resolution screens or situations where you've zoomed in the interface (particularly the case for TVs located across the room), the search bar's default size can be too small to fit the entire default search query when viewing a given channel, requiring the user to always first press the "End" key or the like to move the typing-cursor to the end of the search box.
Describe the solution you'd like
Make the search box longer and/or reduce the white space on the left and right of the search box.
Describe alternatives you've considered
Uhhh.... send everyone free higher resolution monitors and free vouchers for laser eye surgery?
Additional context
Why is there so much white space on the left and right of the search box anyway? I'm reminded of the blank areas that modern versions of Firefox have on the left and right of the address bar supposedly for "aesthetics" on making things not look crowded...
