remove or increase limit of sample points displayed for full global views

Making this a separate issue than the one re. alerting user that the max number of viewable points has been reached -- ideally, it'd be great if there was no limit on the number of samples visualized as points in the map viewer. This would make it possible for people to browse more casually.
