python version as a separate repo and package #4

At some point need to make a new separate repo just for the python version of the code, and then package it up for easier install and management.

I was just going to raise this exact issue! Glad to see it is already here. In addition, it would be great to also provide a DOI for the software once a formal release/versioning is done so that it can be cited (in addition to the paper). If you link your GH account with Zenodo, there is an integration that will mint DOIs for every release you do automatically.

Hopefully this should be done by later in the summer - I need to do some additional tweaks and testing first on this version.

And good point about the doi.
