workspace +0 is used to bypass rules forcing it to other workspaces

$term being kitty

windowrule = match:tag terminal, workspace 1
windowrule = match:class ^($term)$, tag +terminal

launch: bind = $mod shift, return, exec, $termfloat
$termfloat = [float on; center on; size (monitor_w0.4) (monitor_h0.4); workspace unset] $term
or
$termfloat = [float on; center on; size (monitor_w0.4) (monitor_h0.4); workspace +0] $term

yea, issue is the tag, if i replace windowrule = match:tag terminal, workspace 1 with windowrule = match:class kitty, workspace 2
then the [workspace +0] work

are those static or dynamic? [workspace +0] might be evaluated before any tag is set.

Can confirm. But doesn't feel like it's very important.
It sets tag based on class, tag then sets ws, and bobs your uncle.

Just do:

$t = kitty
$tf = [float on; center on; size (monitor_w*0.4) (monitor_h*0.4); workspace +0] $t
bind = super,return, exec, [tag +terminal] $t
bind = super shift, return, exec, $tf
windowrule = match:tag terminal, workspace 1

instead..

Just for posterity, this is the one that doesn't work.
