I'm not sure I necessarily see the problem here for energy dashboard. You're free to set your grid consumption sensor however you like. If you set it to an entity that draws 5kWh, and you set the price for that, then the fact that you export 1kWh does not subtract from this, and shouldn't affect that calculation. Can you show some more detail about how you've setup your configuration, and exactly where on the dashboard you think you're seeing an incorrect value? |

Hi,
thanks for your feedback.
Here some screenshot from today, showing better what I mean:

So there was 2,39kWh imported from the grid, while surplus energy from that small solar plant was exported, 0,21kWh in this case.
And the Dashboard says, my import was 2,18 in total, for it subtracts my export from my import. But that's wrong, for I imported that 2,39 from the grid (and will be billed for it).
So the netto amount is not correct.
In Germany when running that small plants, one won't get paid a single dime - and there is also no deduction of any exported energy.
So that's a bit odd.
I also don't want to delete the export entity from the Dashboard, since it's nice to monitor how much energy I have given away for free, trying not let it be way too much... 😅😉
That's why I thought it would be awesome having an according checkbox, to let the user decide whether to subtract the export from the grid consumption or not 😁

Hi, you´re right. Someting went wrong there. I edited my post here, so that there is now a link to the according Screenshot, showing what I mean... :-) |

Hi all,
I know this is a topic related exclusively to Germany and HA users located there. We´re allowed to run small solar plants with 800W max. output by law, to reduce the power needed by the grid during the day. All fine so far - but for any amount of energy that is exported to the grid, the German customer won´t see a single dime when running such small solar plants. Also the energy provider won´t subtract any exported energy from the imported one. That´s the point where the energy dashboard will be wrong regarding the grid consumption.
So when importing 5kWh during the day and i.e. exported 1kWh - then it´s not 4kWh the provider will charge - but 5kWh.
Therefore, it would be nice if one would have an option (simple checkbox would do), to let HA know if the export should be subtracted from the energy import sum, or not.
I know, usually around the globe it will be simply charged the sum of import - export. But not in Germany.
I think many HA users in Germany would really appreciate such an option, to only show import values from the grid as the grid total and not count any export values in...
