include a conventional function template fitting

it should be able to do the conventional fitting--provide a function template, user is able to dictate which parameters to float/freeze, then run the fit as usual. this would allow user to input a candidate function found from previous run and then fine-tune it in the next run. this should make the api more inclusive and allow user to run the traditional approach as well, not just the sr way.
