Free tier image generation no longer working

Although "Gemini 2.0 Flash Preview Image Generation" is present in the list of models available for Free Tier in this documentation: https://ai.google.dev/gemini-api/docs/rate-limits#free-tier

It's no longer working with this SDK.

Any insights on what's available now for image generation on free tier?

Image generation is a paid-only feature and won't work if you are on the free tier. Check the pricing page for more details.

@janasangeetha, According to the link I provided: https://ai.google.dev/gemini-api/docs/rate-limits#free-tier
It is also available for Free tier and Tier 1.

Also it used to work just fine just few weeks ago, so either:

• Free tier policy has changed, all image models became paid-only, AND the doc in the link is wrong/not up to date.
• Or, nothing has changed in the policy but there is a bug/regression that made this no longer work.

If it's the first case then I think it should just be communicated clearly and this issue can be closed.
