IMAS core_sources: Handle particle sources written only for ions

Currently the converter reads particles sources for the electron transport equation from core_sources.source[i].profiles_1d[t].electrons.particles.
However some core_sources (such as the ones produced by JINTRAC/HFPS if I'm correct) do not contain any data in these fields but only in core_sources.source[i].profiles_1d[t].ion[j].particles.

Should we make the converter more robust and read data at the latter place when there is no data for electrons ? In this case should this be 1 to 1 to convert D/T particle source to an e- one ?

Hi Mateo!

JINTRAC only provides ion sources since the electron density equation is not evolved in JINTRAC, only the ion ones (and then electron density is set by quasineutrality). TORAX also plans to have this option in the near-to-medium-term.

Yes, it is a good idea to provide electron sources for inputs where there is only ion particle sources. They should be fully consistent with each other via quasineutrality, so there is no loss of generality. Depending on solver mode, one should be able to use either the electron particle source or the full set of ion particle sources (if available).
