What happened?

I was informed that my ubuntu VM running gitea had a full disk. This was a puzzle because there was only 8GB of repositories on it. I discovered 68GB of gitea-bundleXXXX folders in data/tmp/git-repo-content
I couldn't find any mention of what these folders are for. I stopped gitea, deleted them, and restarted.
What are these files/folders for and why isn't there a gitea maintenance procedure to keep their size managable?

gitea-bundleXXXX directories are temporary files created during Git bundle downloads. They're normally removed after the download, but if Gitea crashes, is OOM-killed, restarts unexpectedly, or a download is interrupted, they may be left behind. Gitea only cleans these temporary directories on startup, so orphaned files can accumulate on long-running instances. It's also worth checking for OOM kills, unexpected restarts, or automated scripts generating bundle downloads. As a workaround, a cron job can periodically remove stale temporary directories (e.g., older than 3 days) to prevent disk usage from growing.

I have a stock install, so I´m not sure what automated script would be doing this: I haven't installed anything.
