Problem Statement

We support migrating from self-hosted to SaaS, but not between SaaS regions.

@hubertdeng123 @azaslavsky Do we need to update product-owners.yml so this and others don't fall through the cracks?

My company is in the midst of figuring out our ISO certification, as we are located in the EU we are quite concerned about the data that is stored in the US. We could not choose the EU as our data storage location as that was not an option.

Given the number of projects we currently have, moving manually would be an incredibly tedious task.

As such would it be possible to get a rough timeline of when it would be implemented? We currently do not need a specific date, just knowing that it would come, or a rough timeline would be handy so we can plan things.

Thanks in advance.

Also thank you @chadwhitacre for creating the ticket.

@chadwhitacre The product-owners.yml should be already updated, so this one shouldn't fall through the cracks. It'll notify us if Waiting for: Product Owner is on the issue. We haven't figured out how we want to handle the triaging of GitHub yet for dev infra, so it seems fine to leave as is for the time being.

Hi @DXVSantoso ,

This is working now, see the updated docs at https://sentry-docs-git-azaslavsky-relocation-docs.sentry.dev/product/accounts/migration/.

To your question: your data is fully encrypted (by you), and always stored only in the region you specify. If you select EU as your datacenter, your data will never leave the EU, and will always stay encrypted until the relocation is complete, at which point we'll delete that encrypted tarball on our end.

@azaslavsky That is the issue in hand, we did not set EU as our datacenter. It was not an option when our organisation was created (If I recall correctly the option for the EU datacenter only came about "recently", but feel free to cmiiw). We are already using Sentry's SaaS solution.
