Spend Allocations not being respected #57935

We've added this to our backlog for investigation |
Hi, do you have any update on this issue? |
@akhil-handa we don't have an update on this, did your issue persist in the new billing cycle too? |
My projects didn't breach the allocated quota for last couple of months, hence not sure if the issue persists or it's fixed. |
@akhil-handa we've backlogged this investigation for now but we have not heard this feedback from more customers yet so we're unlikely to get to this in the next 6-8 weeks. I will keep the issue open in case any one has similar problems |
Hi @Dhrumil-Sentry I have observed a case where the entire quota for the org is consumed within a very short period of time (several hours) and spend allocation does not seem to reserve any quota for the smaller projects. It would be nice if there was some protection against this where allocated quota could be utilized even if our systems failed to react and rate limit appropriately. |
@Kobby-Bawuah directed me here as we're experiencing this issue - spend allocations don't seem to be respected (errors dropped while below spend allocation) across several billing cycles. |
Thanks, unfortunately no notable findings from our investigations. We're putting this in our backlog for now. |
I am a SaaS customer as well, subscribed the business plan as we need Spend Allocations |
Hi @brianthi I added two additional cases to the internal ticket, including one from @scmp-techsys - I'd appreciate if you could take a look, the cases are very similar. |
Hi @brianthi, I added another case on Friday, could we get an update on this issue? Thanks in advance! |
We have this in our backlog, but there's no timeline for a fix at the moment. |
We're currently working on a fix which presents similar characteristics, allocations are set and not respected. If this fix works, it'll apply only on a go-forward basis and would need your existing monthly usage cycle to pass. Will check back on this once that ships to see if the issue still persists. |
Hello @brianthi, I’ve added a case to the internal ticket. I'd really appreciate it if you could take a look. |
Hi @brianthi . Another customer is seeing this issue. I've updated the internal ticket with more detail. Thank you in advance |
We are having discussions about the best way to resolve the issue. We do not have a date to share at this time. The spend allocation feature can be impacted by degraded performance, such as outages and ingestion delays. The impact may extend beyond one project, causing other projects to drop events. It can be difficult to determine which dropped events should be attributed to degraded performance, but we make an effort to gift the units to the affected orgs. |

Steps to Reproduce
A user has reported that the spending allocation for some projects is not being respected. Please review the synced Jira ticket for more details.
Expected Result
Spend allocation works as expected. Each project which has a spending allocation gets to that amount at the very minimum.
Actual Result
One of the projects did not get to its allocated amount whereas another consumed way beyond its quota until the Org quota was completely consumed.
