Another example to trace "redirect! The link to 裂谷 (rift valley, https://zh.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E8%A3%82%E8%B0%B7) in Mandarin Wiki is directed to 地塹 (graben, https://zh.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E5%9C%B0%E5%A1%B9).

I incline to treat them as one kind as in this case we have one kind with two terms. And here we are looking at two terms that both sound technical. For mountain equivalent in Mandarin, 山地 (literally mountain-land) is redirected to 山 and in this case we are looking at two layperson terms. There is a third type of redirect that I have seen--a slightly more specific kind is redirect to its more generic kind probably because the community does not see the need to introduce a standalone page for the slightly more specific kind.
