Sorry for misusing the issue tracker here for SALIX. I just can no longer use
sourceforge, it drives me crazy. I also did not want to send an email to you
directly because you may have a lot of work, and time is limited, so I prefer
to use github issue trackers - that way you can easily decide if and when
to read an issue and perhaps consider it.
Now to the issue at hand:
I downloaded the SALIX installer today on an .iso and put it on a USB device.
All works so far. But I can not easily pick a password, SALIX constantly tells
me "bad password".
This is just an inconvenience but annoying. After the hdinstall I can use
"passwd" to select the password I want to use anyway, so SALIX should
not really deny me during the installation process, because I now have
to find some fake password that SALIX installer accepts, and then afterwards
I will change it anyway, so this is really just a hassle IMO.
You can probably remove that "bad password" check altogether, and
in the prior dialog simply notify the user that he or she should pick a
good password. Aside from this it really should not be up to SALIX to
enforce some arbitrary rules. Slackware installer does not do this,
by the way, so I think this is the only complaint I have for SALIX right
now. Hopefully this feedback is useful to you and the others
maintaining SALIX - we oldschool slackers have to stick together!
