Most of the students that visit this course have never learned another language before - or at least not properly. So I think it is a good idea to emphasize how important readable code is and what purpose indentation and vertical space serve.
This could be achieved by making it a recurring topic throughout the lessons, as suggested here. :)

I would also suggest to focus on proper naming of variables. A lot of people seem to have serious trouble with giving a useful name to things (which — in my experience — can originate from the fact that people did not fully understand what they are about to code or are still thinking in convoluted ways about a problem).
