Marginnote with scrlayer-notecolumn #295

Hello
Can the scrlayer-notecolumn package from the koma series be used to avoid marginnotes exceeding the page boundary while also enabling automatic page breaks for marginnotes?
(the package uses the \makenote command to generate marginnotes, which seems to be based on \marginpar)
scrlayer-notecolumn doc - see Scrguide Chapter 19
At the same time, can comands like \kao@if@nblskip defined in your project be used to fine-tune makenote?
