Meeting Minutes

• Rimma Perelmuter initiated the meeting by recapping the previous discussions about the Grace Hopper Celebration and the upcoming Open Source Day.
  • The focus was on maximizing FINOS presence and engagement at GHC.
  • Discussion revolved around effectively co-hosting programming and promoting Finos' presence at GHC.
  • Emphasis on creating engaging content and activities for attendees.
• Rita Chaturvedi mentioned the need for cross-checking attendee lists and company presence lists to identify potential opportunities for FINOS members to participate or co-host booths.
• Paula Paul provided updates on the Open Source Day event, emphasizing the need for focused planning and programming.
  • Discussion included the event structure, project blocks, and potential workshops or presentations.
• Karl Moll suggested leveraging his connections with local colleges for additional GHC presence, highlighting opportunities for collaboration.
• Rimma Perelmuter suggested exploring opportunities with member companies for presence at their booths during GHC.

@PaulaPaul has a conflict for the first 30 minutes of the 05 Jun call; status updates on their agenda items follow:

• Finalize co-hosts, programming, and promotion for GHC Open Source Day #56 - An email from AnitaB.org will be sent to Lise Noble at Discover (the primary contact for FINOS Open Source Day participation). Paula will be meeting with Lise in the coming week to create a draft 'Run of Show' for FINOS Open Source Day, and Paula will reach out directly to projects via the FINOS calendar and Slack to engage potential participants in the event, to showcase their projects. Paula will also engage marketing to encourage promotion of the event (AnitaB.org will provide graphics which can be paired with FINOS graphics). Open Source Day is a full day pure virtual event, held on October 4. All virtual and in person attendees of the Grace Hopper Celebration receive free registration for OSD. FINOS will have the opportunity to send five project hosts and fifteen additional maintainers to engage and coach the thousands of attendees that typically join.
• Work with FINOS Projects to add the DEI Project badge to FINOS Projects and promote the work #60 As part of her work as a maintainer on the FINOS A11y Theme Builder project, Paula is working with a new contributor to add DEI Badging from CHAOSS to that project. Once complete, she will raise this as an opportunity for other FINOS projects, and ask marketing to promote the badging for the Theme Builder project as a way to build more diverse community contributions to FINOS projects.
• August 2024 DEI SIG event Co-hosted with AnitaB.org Boston Community #58 Paula met with the local Boston chapter lead of AnitaB.org, who is interested in co-producing and co-promoting and open source event in Boston, at a venue in August. Paula will co-host an Ambassador event with AnitaB.org.
