  • OS: iOS
  • Type: Incorrect/Unexpected Behavior
  • Keywords: QuickTime, Mac, screen recording, iOS, iPhone

Description

  • Plug the iPhone into a Mac.
  • Launch QuickTime and click File > New Movie Recording.
  • On the iPhone, the clock should show 9:41.
  • Open the Music app or Podcasts app.
  • Instead of showing 9:41, the clock is replaced with a blue AirPlay icon. This cannot be hidden. On the Now Playing screen, switching output from Screen Capture to bluetooth headphones will momentarily resolve the issue, but QuickTime will stop recording the screen.

When using macOS to capture the screen, it should not put a blue AirPlay icon in the titlebar. It is impossible to make a perfect screen capture of the Music or Podcasts apps.
