persistence-binary-jdk8 and persistence-binary-jdk17?

If I use ES with Java 17+ and wanto use persistence-binary-jdk17 , do I need to also include persistence-binary-jdk8 explicitly, or will it be automatically included?

Yes, that's correct. You have to register the type handlers also:

final EmbeddedStorageFoundation<?> foundation = EmbeddedStorage.Foundation();
foundation.onConnectionFoundation(BinaryHandlersJDK8::registerJDK8TypeHandlers);
foundation.onConnectionFoundation(BinaryHandlersJDK17::registerJDK17TypeHandlers);

Ok, because my assumptions that was that if I did 17, 8 is automatically included (becasue Java 17 includes everything from Java 8) , which is not the case. Maybe you need to clarify this in the docs.
