Environment

AFC & AFC-Scout latest 9/4/24
Arch / Plasma latest 9/4/24

Asus Zenbook 14" OLED Space Edition
SN: UX5401ZAS
BIOS 3.11 (latest) / No Linux Drivers from Asus :(
Intel Core i9 12900H
Intel Iris Xe GPU/XPU
32 GB Memory / 12GB Shared XPU

Description

------ base address 1335 ------
acpi call failed with 'Error: AE_NOT_FOUND'

Replication

[dave@archlinux git]$ sudo afc-scout
------ base address 1335 ------
acpi call failed with 'Error: AE_NOT_FOUND'
[dave@archlinux git]$

I tried the manual Git install and the Gitpack install. If I try to run scout or the main app I get the same error. I installed scout to address the error but it appears to be deeper than I thought.

Additional context

Under normal conditions , the fans on this laptop require the Asus software in Windows to work, which is just crazy. The fans WILL NOT spin up under load. I can 100% load my CPU and GPU and this thing gets cooking HOT, but will never spin the fans up without Windows and that sofftware. The software also controls the LCD screen on the oppisite side of the OLED display (ripe for hacking something cool, the entry point is aleady there somewhere, I disgress).

I found this page but don't know BIOS dev at all, BIOS hacking / decompiling not my strong point

Installed the HW Probe

Hee is my URL https://linux-hardware.org/?probe=09addc5407 https://linux-hardware.org/?probe=09addc5407

  • I started looking at my results and most things on the laptop seem to work. I noticed this line which seemed interesting info.
  • PCI 8086:467d »
/ 11-80-00 Intel Corporation Platform Monitoring Technology signal processing controller intel_vsec detected
  • So I looked up the driver intel_vsec
  • I found this
  • https://cateee.net/lkddb/web-lkddb/INTEL_VSEC.html
  • This line looked interesting
  • vendor: 8086 ("Intel Corporation"), device: 467d ("Platform Monitoring Technology")
  • And this line
  • vendor: 8086 ("Intel Corporation"), device: 7d0d ("Meteor Lake-P Platform Monitoring Technology")
  • A few other lines have an address with no desc.

Other info: I havent tested the fingerprint reader or tried to get it to work. The laptop does have 2 audio controllers and I can confirm the default speakers are working so I think thats the non-Intel audio controller and the Intel controller handles audio over Bluetooth.
