Search Guard "Classic" is not longer maintained and was replaced with Search Guard "FLX".

Non-FLX releases of Search Guard do not receive new features. Whenever possible, you should choose Search Guard FLX.

Search Guard FLX brings a number of fundamental improvements and updates to Search Guard. These require breaking changes in the configuration format.

It's available for both Elastic v7 and v8.
