History & Theory published a special issue on "Theorizing Histories of Violence" in 2017.

Might be relevant?

A few more suggestions:

  • Pierre Clastres, Archéologie de la violence (1977, no idea if it got translated)
  • Randall Collins, Violence. A Micro-Sociological Theory (2008)
  • della Porta, "On Violence and Repression: A Relational Approach" (Government & Opposition, 2014)
  • Exodus, "Another Lesson in Violence" :-)

Hi @briatte, how are you doing?

Thanks very much for your suggestions! I'm also a great fan of Pierre Clastres, and I believe his two most famous book have been translated into English. I will add them to reading list!

And any student who shows up with an Exodus t-shirt in class gets an A right away :D
