the first few days will be devoted to getting everyone set up with linux on their computers.

once you're set up, if you're not sure where to start, i encourage starting with bash/shell and then javascript.

http://linuxcommand.org/lc3_learning_the_shell.php is my favorite resource for learning bash/shell.

http://jsforcats.com/ is a good resource for getting started with javascript. if you finish with js for cats, you can start on the interactive workshops at nodeschool.io. finally, i very much like the book eloquent javascript (full text is online).

@mk30 that's terrific! I'll be there. Yes, I do. Is it okay if I use Emacs?

@mk30 yes, emacs users are allowed ;)

if you want to catch up on anything that you've missed (or jump ahead or learn anything else), check out notes and videos from past talks we've had at other cyber wizard institutes: http://cyber.wizard.institute/#course-materials (we haven't yet posted any video from the current session)
