Tabs

Tabs show and hide content inside tab panels. VoiceOver users must hear the selected tab state.

Use TabView to create native tab controls with selected state. Give each TabView a unique and meaningful .accessibilityLabel.

For custom tabs use isTabBar and isSelected Traits with .accessibilityElement(children: .contain).

Notes:

  • When using .tabViewStyle(.page) to create a TabView with page indicator dots make sure to add .indexViewStyle(.page(backgroundDisplayMode: .always)) to display the page indicator dots with a background othwerwise they will be invisible in light mode.

Platform Defects:

  • TabView using .tabViewStyle(.page) has page indicator dots which are not focusable using direct touch exploration with VoiceOver. In past versions of iOS these dots were accessible to VoiceOver. In latest versions the VoiceOver focus appears to move to the page indicator dots as the very last elements on the page in the incorrect swipe order.
