Data stored in web app backend

While investigating an issue with long connection times in the extension I stumbled over this issue:

The log fragment included has a reference to an extension backend at https://estimate-backend.azurewebsites.net .

My questions are GDPR-related:

• What purpose has this backend?
• What data flows to it?
• Is any data stored somewhere in the backend - and if yes, which types of data?

It acts as a relay host for the session participants and doesn't seem to store any data.
