Add version selection in Contao Theme distribution via type contao-theme

Description

It would be nice if you could choose a theme version when you select a Contao theme. Currently, for example, a Contao 4.13 is installed by the Contao demo, my expectation would have been that it is at least a 5.3. It would be better if you could choose the version directly. Alternatively, as a theme provider you have to provide a repository for each available version. Or have I overlooked something?

To explain it in more detail, we have the following use cases:

For example in MATE Theme bundle

• 4.13 Core only
• 4.13 with extensions
• 5.3 Core only (German)
• 5.3 with Extensions (German)
• 5.3 Core only (English)
• 5.3 with Extensions (English)

Further languages will follow.
The user must now enter the correct version in version selections.

For example

• Version "4.13" for 4.13 with extensions
• Version "4.13-core" for 4.13 core only
• Version "5.3-de" for 5.3 with extensions and german
• Version "5.3-de-core" for 5.3 core only and german
• Version "5.3-en" for 5.3 with extension and english
• Version "5.3-en-core" for 5.3 core only and English

The Contao Manager uses composer create-project to install a package. Therefore, the mentioned constraint is necessary to find the correct version. And our popup cannot know which ones are available from you, because you define the available versions.

The popup could already know the available versions when it fetches the package data for the theme:

GET https://repo.packagist.org/p2/[vendor]/[package].json

for example https://repo.packagist.org/p2/contao/contao-demo.json

• "version": "5.5"
• "version": "5.4" etc.

@aschempp I just saw that the version information is somewhat limited anyway... https://getcomposer.org/doc/04-schema.md#version
Something like 5.3-de-minimal would not be allowed.
I would be reluctant to make a repo for each version, then the theme will be displayed several times in the list above. Does anyone else have an idea how to solve this?
Or can we simply ignore the version, since it is only for the contao-theme packages anyway? What do you say?

The Contao Manager could know the available package versions, but these are not related to the Contao Version. Same applies for installing any package, not just themes.

I thought i can name the version (5.3-en-core) as i want, but packagist.org does not accept versions that deviate from the allowed pattern.

Well we can't work with something that Composer and Packagist does not support … right?
