What is the idea?

For tracking packages added to the CDN, it might be nice to have some kind of feed (likely filtered) to notice when a package is available.

Admittedly given the relatively fast update times of CDN, this is less pressing than it was. Though it may still be nice (especially if there is already something like this say from Cloudflare that can be easily exposed). Also it could help if a user just generally wants to get notifications when packages they use are updated.

Why is this needed?

Maintainers of feedstocks checking for updates ( conda-forge/conda-forge-webservices#490 ). Users of packages staying abreast of recent updates.

What should happen?

If there is some RSS or Atom feed that users could subscribed to (mostly likely filtered for a package/version), this would likely capture the use case.

I know of https://repo.anaconda.com/pkgs/rss.xml for defaults. Maybe there's one for conda-forge too?

Edit: Yes, here: https://conda.anaconda.org/conda-forge/rss.xml

Btw we are rendering this in https://conda-metadata-app.streamlit.app. Bioconda's feed is broken because it's not compliant XML, though. Note that the feed only lists package names, not artifacts.
