Applying a cross OS patch requiring --ignore-whitespace is missing

I tried to patch a file that has been modified in windows with \r as linebreaks. When creating the patch the patch file does not include the \r.
Applying the patch works only if for the patch command line tool an additional --ignore-whitespace was provided.
However such a parameter is missing for patch-ng
