New docker install: Channels never play media

[baudneo]

This seems to be a transcoding error but I cant figure it out. Ive tried the software transcoding and CUDA backed transcoding.

With the software transcoding, i get the 'Can't tune channel' message and with the CUDA backed transcoding, I get the 'Channel Offline' placeholder video.

Ive tried changing the network and direct play settings without success. Not too sure what else I can do. Debug logging is on for tunarr and ffmpeg but I cant see a clear error in the logs to pinpoint what the issue may be:

It might help to have troubleshooting or FAQs in the docs so users can troubleshoot on their own. That or useful debug logging so a user can debug on their own. There is nothing in docs about these errors or any gotchas or common issues after first set-up.

Im going to abandon this software for the time being as there isnt much to help someone get things going.

Hey sorry that you're having trouble and I appreciate the feedback on the docs - you are right. I'm the only one working on this now and just have had limited time to write everything out while still working on features. That said, GitHub discussions have been harder for me to follow than other forums. I'd be happy to help you debug this issue on discord. I will also take a look at the error you posted here and see if anything jumps out.

There is also a wealth of logging that you can enable which is turned off by default. All of these settings can be found on tunarr settings pages.

For debugging streams I suggest
It is near impossible to debug streaming issues without full logs. Please do the following:

1. Enable debug logging under Settings > General
2. Enable ffmpeg logging to file with "level = info" under Settings > FFmpeg
3. Start a stream with a problematic piece of content
4. Report back with the generated files: full tunarr.log and ffmpeg log files (all located in Tunarr logs directory, the location of which you can find on the System page)
