[Question] mkcert vs cert-manager

There are many differences! mkcert is for temporary development certs and would usually be run locally on a developer's laptop, whereas cert-manager runs on Kubernetes clusters and can be used for production TLS certificate management.

so mkcert cannot be used for production then? but cert-manager is production ready?

I wouldn't use mkcert in prod, no - but it can be useful for testing locally in some situations. I used to use it for that personally.

cert-manager is absolutely production ready and is used by several large orgs in production (that list isn't up-to-date).
