  1. I'd like to simplify the code structure to be more performant, based on the design used by PMID Fetcher.
  2. The plugin needs to be updated for Zotero 7 compatibility.

Sure -- I'm going through my plugins, and one (the simplest admittedly) is fully done, so I have some experience. Shortdoi shouldn't be substantially more complex than that.

it is surprisingly simple to get this plugin to work, just change version number and repack.. work on some of the items... Don't know if there're any bugs. use on your own risk...
