Basic question about "Powercalc measure tooling"

Since many already used this tool, I am probably the only one who does not understand some basic questions about it.

• Does the (docker container) tool accesses the smart plug directly to record the measurements?
• Does it use HomeAssistant to record the measurements (and control the light)?
• If so, which access does it need?

These questions are most important for now since I need to setup the container at the right location within my complicated network. Also it is important to decide if I need to use a prestine measuring smart plug or one I have already integrated in HA.

Depends on the choosen SELECTED_POWERMETER. It uses some native api for the smart plug or the HA api, to retrieve values from the smart plug.

See above. when using hass it will use the HA REST API.

Ok, so when having hass running and a measuring power plug present within, it is the easiest do use that. Hence, I would need to create the measuring tool with access to hass?!

@dagobert well, no, not necessarily. You run the measuring tool on your computer in a docker container. It will access either a power measuring tool via hass, or other protocols. It will also access the light via hass or other protocols and record everything together to a profile.
