I'd like to see when a new list is created by someone I follow, or anybody on my home instance. It might also be nice to be able to follow lists and get an update when somebody adds a book to it.
I think neither is possible right now? Might be worth a feature request, but that would probably need more details, like what sort list activities warrant a timeline entry? Renaming the list, editing the description etc.? Change of sorting? Adding books, adding comments/descriptions to entries? Following a list (if such a thing is possible) should probably give updates for a broad range of changes to the list. Following a user should probably only float "new list created" and "bood added to a list" into the timeline.

I'm curious what others think.
