Berty product

Mobile app

Feature request

An encrypted local database for messages etc.

Context

To prevent malicious apps, phone manufactures, etc. from reading sensitive messages.

Possible implementation

When I say encrypted local database, I mean the kind that requires a password to decrypt. This is essential for a private and secure messaging app.

Put backlog until we have more project partner engagement and feedback about the need for this feature for various use environments.

FYI, all local data are currently encrypted using keys stored in the device secure enclave (if it has one), it's not super hard to add support for password-derived key instead of the ones in the enclave
