Coming back after a long break, I don't remember the difference between the two...
Would you mind uploading a page explaining how to use these two types of files in OsmAnd, maybe even with screenshots showing them in action?
Thanks a lot!
Nicolas

The difference is the following:
"user-defined" POI type is what everybody could use with OsmAnd installed from the market. All POIs are displayed with a single icon, making museums mixed with hotels.
"wikivoyage" POI type could be used only on patched version of OsmAnd. In that case you will see different icons for different listing types.
A page explaining how to use would be nice, I already don't remember all the details myself :) I don't have much time right now, so let's keep the issue open as a reminder to create such page.
