I've never heard of Joplin, but I'll check it out. Since the notes basic-memory outputs are markdown, I don't see why it wouldn't work with any editor. |

For sure. But i thought of an api integration since joplin md files are encrypted. What I had in mind: a dedicated notebook within for basic-memory, where bi-directional sync can occur. Maybe it is rather a Joplin plugin that could do the job. Anyway, just thinking loud :) Great tool you made :) |

Thanks for the suggestion and your kind words about Basic Memory! Direct file access: When Joplin is used without encryption, we could potentially access the markdown files directly. Basic Memory could read from and write to a dedicated Joplin notebook, creating a bi-directional sync between the two systems. You're right that Joplin's markdown files are encrypted when E2EE is enabled, which adds a layer of complexity. However, this wouldn't necessarily require a full API integration - a plugin could handle the encryption/decryption layer while still allowing Basic Memory to interact with the content. We'll add this to our feature consideration list. If you're interested in helping develop this integration or have more specific use cases in mind, please let us know! |

Hello 👋 I've been using Joplin for years now and I'd really like to have this integration. I'd be ready to pay a little something (around $100) to see it become a reality. It's not much, but I want to show interest. My main use case would be something along those lines: I have years of personal notes, ranging from notes about concepts in computer science, snippets of code, ideas, todos, etc. I would like basic-memory to be able to read these notes so I can ask questions about them. I would also like basic-memory to be able to write notes into Joplin (basically, the content of the I don't use encryption. |

Obsidian integration is great. But since Joplin is open source, it would be great to add support for it.
Congrats for this great tool !
