There are some recurrent questions about the EULA that we should clarify in some way (changing the EULA or adding some extra FAQ section). Some of these points:

  • Allow CLI/CI compilations just for batch processing purposes (e.g. exporting sprite sheets, running scripts, or converting images in automated CI pipelines)
  • Disallow fully-automated compilation solutions for redistribution, including but not limited to just pressing a button to accept the EULA and compile and/or install the GUI version of the program
  • Should we allow redistribution of patches that are not intended to be integrated? In EULA words patches are allowed only "to propose a contribution to the SOFTWARE PRODUCT".
  • Should we allow internal redistribution of patched/compiled version of Aseprite inside a company computers if each employee purchased its own key?
  • Clarify personal use in EULA #2303
