Why is "com.google.protobuf" excluded?

In the root build.gradle.kts,

    dependencies {
        classpath(libs.google.oss.licenses.plugin) {
            exclude(group = "com.google.protobuf")
        }
    }
}

Why is "com.google.protobuf" excluded? Thanks

Hi @eyhgpt , this was introduced in:

• https://github.com/android/nowinandroid/pull/730/files

And it is very likely because of protobuf classpath collisions (between the java and the android variants). Although this might no longer be true today. You can try removing it and see if the entire build succeeds.
