Recently Kustomize 5 was added to both Ubuntu 22.04 (ubuntu-latest) and to Ubuntu 20.04.
Kustomize 5 is only just 3 weeks old (at time of writing) and includes breaking changes. In our case, we are using
ubuntu-latest
and both our github actions and Azure DevOps pipelines, CI and release, are broken and are still broken. We can't role back to a previous version of Kustomize because the previous version is now only available on Ubuntu 18.04 which is end of life and subject to brown outs.I can fully see why Kustomize 5 is on latest because it is the latest and that's the risk one takes...but the inclusion of this version, with breaking changes, on 20.04 seems odd. Is the software included on images reviewed for breaking changes and the impact that those changes might have assessed? It has left us scratching around for solutions at a time when we need to be releasing (we are only a small team) without the option to rollback to a previous version of Ubuntu and Kustomize
