Exporting list of articles #1720
Comments
Not exactly, but… 1/ One of the lesser known feature of Vienna is that you can select multiple articles at once in the main tab. Just extend the selection by clicking on articles while pressing the Shift key or the Command key (so the selection can be discontinuous). 2/ You can then copy these articles and paste them in a third party app. Drag and drop might also be convenient. You will not get all the details you want, though… 3/ if you want to keep as much details as possible, you can print the selection to a PDF. 4/ Some people wanting to archive articles through PDF files were annoyed by relative dates ("Today", "Yesterday") in the output. Example : |
Thank you for the answer:
I understand point 1 and 2. But putting these fields in a spreadsheet (LibreOffice) I get everything in column A, and that for the whole list. We want to make a list for every calendar year, that is nog convenient at all.
Would it be possible to export the lines in a csv-format or other ?
Printing the selection is fully known by us, both continuous or a new page every article. We already use that.
Point 4 is no concern for us. We do that for the past calendar year. So the problem does not arise for us.
Would exporting the list be possible, eventually as a new feature ? Thunderbird has such a feature already. It is a very good example.
Kind regards.
André De Vleeschouwer.

So we added a secret preference, which currently have to be activated in the Terminal :
defaults write uk.co.opencommunity.vienna2 DoesRelativeDateFormatting 0
will force Vienna to display absolute dates in Articles view.
You will have to quit and relaunch Vienna to activate the change.
To deactivate: defaults delete uk.co.opencommunity.vienna2 DoesRelativeDateFormatting
Example :
Vienna - 3 articles.pdf <https://github.com/ViennaRSS/vienna-rss/files/13998930/Vienna.-.3.articles.pdf>

Is there a possibility to export a list of articles indicated per RSS feed ? This list could be in .csv or other common list format, and would contain all the information mentioned in the overview list: subject, date, folder, author, link, if possible brief summary, attachments. Is there any plug-in for this feature available ?
