Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.

distro_family is a great idea, but ID_LIKE is not always set (for example, I'm using a Debian Google Cloud box right now where it isn't).

Describe the solution you'd like

I was hopeful that I could just override it manually and use my distro_family.debian templates or my distro.Ubuntu alt files/templates. I see this was done for arch in #393.

Describe alternatives you've considered

Have to make copies of everything :(
