This project looks to good to be a PoC. Is this really a PoC ? 🤔

Hey, glad you like it!
It started as a proof of concept, but I guess it's becoming more and more usable now :)

We only started this project about a week ago though, so it's still too early to tell if the kernel going to reach a point where it's actually usable.

We're doing all of our planning and communication on Discord,
if you're interested we'd be happy to see you there: https://discord.gg/nmESdX8

Feel free to ask follow-up questions here if you don't have Discord :)

@SplittyDev thanks for the great response.

I'm a total noob on OS development :D

Is this following another implementation or are you building toward a specification? This is so awesome. Wish I understood more about OS development terms and how all these seemingly magic values and registers come together to form a cohesive system.

Kudos to you for getting this far. I too am thoroughly enjoying reading through what you have got so far even if I don't understand it all.

@Virtual-Machine Hey, nice to see another person interested in the project :)
We're building a unix-like, monolithic, modular kernel. We'll try to make parts of the kernel POSIX-compatible, although that's not our main focus at the moment.

Although we're not really building towards a specification, this isn't an implementation either. We're building our own system with our own rules, but POSIX compliance is always a good thing because that makes porting Linux programs to Nuummite way easier.

We'd be happy to see you on our IRC or on our Discord server!
You can find the links here :)
