Questions/comments about markdown code block output

The code block output has been bugging me because it seems there are no good options.

Current state:

• Code block have bg
• Lines trailing spaces when when copied (beginning and end of each line)
• Nice syntax highlighting

Some alternatives:

• No formatting:
  • Code is indistinguishable from rest of text in md content
• Remove background color
  • Fixes trailing spaces
  • Contrast issues with certain themes (since user can have light or dark mode)
• No formatting, just indentation:
  • Code still almost indistinguishable from rest of md
• Text decoration only (bold/italic/underline/dim):
  • For code that doesn't get highlighted, still indistinguishable from rest of text
• Solid color (like blue) for code blocks:
  • Helps distinguish, not pretty

It's a tricky set of tradeoffs and would at least be worth documenting various approaches and upsides/downsides of each, and some explanation for how to fix them. For example, this issue helped me figure out how to remove the default padding.

Otherwise, I love the package and it's easier than I expected to create a really nice UX
