Setting up a desktop env.

I found this repo a few days ago, and I wanted to try out PR3.

I'm using VMware workstation 17.5 to host the OS. It booted perfectly ok the first time, and comes with all of the tools I need to start manually building a DE. But as I put in issue #11, it seems the ping function returns errors which means using any tool like wget, or curl won't work. I'm trying to use AUR to download the plasma-meta package so I can hopefully try and get kde plasma 6 working. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for trying to fix the issue I'm encountering. I won't be able to test anything or provide any error messages because I'm busy at the moment. But as soon as I'm free I'm going to try my best to create some sort of desktop env.
