I needed to poke around in the documentation and edit configuration files to get my Hifiberry DAC+ working with RuneAudio on my Raspberry Pi. I think it should be possible to have a list of all possible audio output devices made available in the MPD Configuration page, and when the user selects one then the configuration files are updated and the Raspberry Pi is rebooted for it to take effect.

(I'd be happy to attempt this enhancement if you think it is worthwhile.)

How did you do this?
I have a Pi-DAC plus and don't know how to configure it to play out of it
