... to add a new Item (preferable instead of the hovering add/plus button in the bottom right) so at least the date, maybe also the time of the new item/activity is pre-selected with time of the pressed area.

Background

Especially the selection of the date is pretty cumbersome when adding new items retrospectively and costs a lot of "clicks" and too often I end up with an activity spanning multiple days since I forget to hit save at some point I assume OR just change the time and forget to change date entirely.

Benefits

  • Much less clicks
  • Unclutters view/screen
  • No drawbacks I can come up with. (One could argue less intuitive but there is the same mechanism already for the non-empty spaces a.k.a. activities.)

Hello! Thank you very much for the feedback. Seems logical, will try to implement it. Although it could not replace standard plus button, because on busy days there would be no empty spaces in the calendar. I was also thinking about adding new quick action similar to Duplicate, but which would open editing right away, something like "Add to this time". This would also help with adding records in a calendar view. How do you think?

By the way, in the Display settings there is a setting to enable untracked time in the records which would fill empty spaces, and it is clickable and would act just like you describe.
