While running the release specs I attempted to remove a global address given by a stray border router (withTNT). I would change the channel or PAN ID before, remove it so it would no longer get an address, then add a known address. However, even though the address was in ifconfig it wasn't able to ping. Pinging the local address worked, and if I didn't have to remove any TNT addresses it also worked.
