The custom rewrites currently support auto-unfusion to apply a rewrite rule when the node is phase-free. It would be nice to support auto-unfusion where it unfuses the required phase and leaves the rest on the outside unfused spider to apply to rewrite rule.

A potential way this could be implemented: if a spider occurs on the boundary in a custom rewrite, for the matching we add a parameter to it. This parameter is then automatically matched to whatever is needed to make it match.
