I'd like to start a discussion about improving email templates. I want to achieve implementation of features allow dynamically changing texts depending on settings on related PrestaShop features and current customer state.
Sure, the developers can modify email templates for customers and also merchant can edit email templates via back-office. But I'd like to see better behavior of generated email notifications by default depending on event and settings.
The solution
1. AN INFORMATION ABOUT INVOICE DOWNLOADING
Issue: In the almost all email templates is the sentence including a part "...and download your invoice...". But the merchants could disable invoices per Order status or globally in the PrestaShop settings. They can use external solution for creating invoices (or other documents) or generate invoice manually before shipping parcel to the customer or after delivering. So this default sentence could provide customer false information in many combinations of mentioned settings.
Solution:
A. In the action of sending email to customer there it should be an information if the invoice already exist or not and if is allowed attach invoice into the email. Depending on this information PrestaShop should provide related text.
B. The second solution is removing "...and download your invoice..." part globally by default.
2. LOGIC AND ALTERNATING TEXTS DEPENDING OF THE CUSTOMER'S GROUP
Issue: No matter if the customer made an order as Guest or Registered customer, still receiving email information about tracking the order for both type of customers.
Solution: In the action of sending email to customer there it should be an information about type of customer depending on customer group. Logic in the email template then could add proper sentence with tracking URL.
3. LEGISLATION: ESHOP OPERATOR BUSINESS DETAILS IN THE EMAIL TEMPLATES
Issue: Not sure about other countries, but Commercial Code in the Slovakia require that email with order summary should include information who is eshop operator including his business details. Did you know about that?
Solution: The PrestaShop could allow add simple multi-language text information with business details that will added in the bottom of the email template by smaller font size. Just simple multi-language textarea field.
